On2 purchasing Wildform Flix
Wildform have entered into a cross-licensing deal with On2 Technologies, the company that created the video codec that will be in Macromedia Flash 8. This gives On2 access to an already established customer base when Flash Player 8 arrives this autumn.
Wildform and On2 Technologies, Inc., creators of advanced video compression technologies have entered into a cross-licensing agreement involving Wildform’s Flix Flash video encoding software and On2’s VP6 and VP7 codecs which are to be used in Macromedia’s new Flash 8 product.The deal transfers the Flix product line to On2 and provides Wildform’s customers with access to the newest Flash video encoding technology. Wildform is folding the Flix functionality as well as On2’s new Flash video codec into its new software product line, due out in summer, 2005.
