Jacob Nielsen + Macromedia

Macromedia and Jacob Nielsen are teaming up to make the web and Flash a better place.

Nielsen caused quite a stir some time ago with his article 'Flash 99% bad'. Everyone in the experimental Flash-scene cried out loud, and one of the more famous quotes was Josh Davis claiming he'd knock down Nielsen if they met :-)

In general, most agreed (after a while) that this was a good discussion and several sites posted articles on User Interface and usability design. Macromedia created a special usability area on macromedia.com and Nielsen working for Macromedia is probably a logical extension? 'Nielsen will be developing best practice guidelines for creating usable rich Internet applications with Macromedia Flash MX'

According to a reader at actionscript.com: 'If Jacob had his way the web would be as interesting as cold oatmeal'. Might be, but who says that all webites needs to be usable? Our guess is that Jacob are talking about sites for "the masses', not the web savvy. After all: what would Art be if there were rules?
