Flash Community chat

Flash Community chat

Old Skool Flash'ers may remember the Central Dev Chat that was set up by Mike Chambers many years ago. It was a great place just to hang out and chat or get instant help with a problem you had. A month ago, Mike created a new chat that provided much of the same vibe, so come along and meet your fellow community members?

Just after it's launch, the Flash Platform Chat was full of people. Mike Chambers and Ryan Stewart from Adobe were regulars and there was a flurry of Flash/Flex users from all over the world discussing everything from the weather to skinning Flex Components. The last week, things have calmed down a bit, but there's still enough users for it to be a nice place to hang out and get help if you're stuck on something. The chat is open to all and the more people dropping by, the more useful it will be for all.

Mike is working on a standalone AIR client, but for now you can connect using other chat clients such as iChat, Adium, Trillian and Pidgin. Mike and other readers have published a guide on how to set up the various clients, so by just following those steps you'll have instant access to that extra pair of eyes that each copy of Flash/Flex should come with. If there's nobody online just as you enter, just keep the program open and others will come along shortly.

PS: If you have a blog that's missing content, write about that chat and more people will join.

About Jens C Brynildsen
