ColdFusion for Free

Macromedia has made the ColdFusion Server 5 Developer Edition available for a free download at their web site

Not directly Flash related, but a product from Macromedia that is sure to be integrated closer and closer to Flash is ColdFusion, an HTMLish scripting language from Macromedia designed to make developing dynamic database-driven web sites easier.

The product is fairly pricy (espesically compared to the free alternatives), so the free download of the Developer Edition server is a welcome move from Macromedia.

Macromedia wants to make it as simple as possible for people to realize the benefits of using ColdFusion Server to deliver robust web applications, said Jeff Whatcott, Director, ColdFusion Server Business, Macromedia in their press release.

The download comes as a 30 day trial version of a fully functioning ColdFusion Server Enterprise Edition, that turns into a single-user Developer Server after 30 days. The server is available on Windows, Linux, HP-Unix and Sun Solaris.
