Devices update

The Flash 5 player for PocketPC and Nokia Communicator isn't arriving just yet...

During the FlashForward event in Amsterdam, we reported the Flash 5 player for PocketPC to be just around the corner. This was our question to the keynote speakers, but they actually replied telling about the SDK for creating players for devices. This was released during the conference (check the news-section here at FlashMagazine).

This is the statement from Macromedia: 'at FlashForward, Macromedia announced the availability of the Macromedia Flash Player 5 Source Code SDK to enable device manufacturers and embedded platform providers to quickly and seamlessly port Macromedia Flash Player to a wide range of devices and platforms. This is not a consumer version of the Macromedia Flash Player and at this time, Macromedia does not have any plans to make a consumer version available on our site.'

In other words, expect Flash 5 players for virtually any device in the near future, but not necessarily from Macromedia.
