ElectroServer 4 available
Developing multiplayer games? ElectroServer has been around for a long time and the new version is better than ever. It supports more than 200.000 concurrent users, it's extendable, handles audio and video and features several specialized solutions for multiplayer games.
Hot on the heels of Adobe's announcement of FMS3, Electrotank released the new version of their gaming and streaming server - ElectroServer 4 (ES4). ElectroServer has a proven track record and has a solid feature set. It's scalable, stable and has AS2 and AS3 APIs that speed up development time. ES4 excels at multiplayer games, chat systems, but the new version also supports video streaming from webcams, live streams or recorded content. Other new features are binary transmissions, message aggregation, encryption and huge performance gains.
Flashmagazine talked to Jobe Makar from Electrotank about the new product and asked him how they can support up to 200.000 simultaneous users:
"That is a ridiculous number! Our goal was to meet 100,000 simultaneous users. We were very excited when we met and surpassed that mark ... Because of the large numbers of simultaneous users that we support our server is ideal for massively multiplayer virtual worlds. The tremendously popular Webkinz World uses ElectroServer to achieve their large numbers. There are many virtual worlds currently in development that use ElectroServer as the connection layer. Most competing products do not support more than several thousand concurrent users.". Jobe is a Flash industry veteran and we also did a full interview with him about Flash games, ElectroServer and Electrotank.

The Enterprise version allows for operation in standalone or distributed modes, and scales to support 10,000-200,000 concurrent players. The Professional version starts at $700 and the Enterprise version at $4400.
