Jeremy Keith: AJAX, Flash killer?
Despite the controversial title this highly enjoyable talk was a balanced and refreshing review of the current crop of web application technologies. Enlivened by quotes from Henry Ford and Darth Vader we learned that AJAX and Flash developers can live in peace and harmony and actually have a lot to learn from each other.

One of the most interesting threads was a discussion of the emerging conventions in applications.Making Flash sites accessible is challenging but not impossible, but in AJAX it is nigh on impossible. The key for the future is in Flash and AJAX working together to complement each other. He offered a filmic precedent for this as Flash Gordon was supported by the war rocket AJAX to save the world! In a nutshell he recommends AJAX for small changes to the page. When large amounts of changes are required then a Flash / Flex solution.
