Linux Flash Player on Adobe Labs now
Been hungering for a better Flash Player for your Linux box? Adobe just released the beta version on Adobe Labs.
This version has every major feature except for the new Full Screen mode and transparency over HTML content is there. The Beta version has primarily been tested on Red Hat and Novell platforms, but should work in other distributions as well. The FAQ has more information on distros.Flash Player engineer Tinic Uro writes on his blog: "Now is this beta version bug free? By no means. Will it install and fully work your specific distro? There is a good chance it will not, although I have tried a good dozen of distributions." There is a list of known issues with the current player and since this is a Beta, Adobe is keen to receive feedback from testers. Our initial testing tells this could be the fastest Flash Player ever - independently of platform, so this should make the Linux community happy.
There is also a new beta version of the WinTel Players available on Adobe Labs that fixes several problems reported. Oh - and if the Adobe website is a little slow today, it's because they were just slashdotted.
