Macromedia.com becomes adobe.com

Macromedia.com becomes adobe.com

Macromedia.com is gone. Just in time for the May 1st Reboot, Adobe launches a new unified site retaining much of the styling from the old Macromedia.com.

It's long been a tradition with webdesigners to "reboot" their site on May 1st. This year, Adobe takes the plunge and launches the new unified adobe.com. This may well be the biggest "reboot" until now as all the thousands of pages are now migrated onto the adobe site and all requests to macromedia.com are redirected.

The new design is heavily based on the old Macromedia site so for Macromedia users it has a familiar feel. The biggest change is probably in the navigation that has changed from Flash to DHTML and CSS to make room for all the products of the new unified company. All the prize winning Macromedia support resources are present, but new ones have yet to be added for the old Adobe products. The resource bit of the site is also updated and here the Adobe products are very much present. The latest additions is a DevNet subsite for Adobe LiveCycle. It's fun to see how Flash designers such as Natzke, WeWorkForThem and The Chopping Block are prominent across the site. Flash is really making a big impact at Adobe.com.
