Quite some time ago, Macromedia announced a new application called Central, a new kind of web application for occasionally connected users. Since then it's been quiet until now.
In a DevNet article, Mike Chambers tells about the current status and why the project is not as far as planned. Macromedia first aimed at a release late this summer, so this article was certainly needed. Several Flash blogs started posting stories saying that Central may never surface and that the idea maybe wasn't so great after all. This article should debunk those myths. Central is very much alive and kicking, but it's still in Beta.
