Moho for Linux

Finally, one of the SWF authoring tools are available for the Linux OS. Lost Marble has been around for quite some time with it's animation program Moho and version 4 are now in pre-release for Linux Red Hat 8.

Moho supports a full set of drawing and animation features and outputs to SWF, AVi and QuickTime. Moho also supports a special bone system with inverse kinetmatics that makes character animation faster, camera moves through layers and particle systems to create water, smoke, and swarming effects. Their website isn't much to look at, but the samples tell you that this is a interesting tool for anyone interested in animation.

The Windows version has been on the market for a long time, but with the addition of a Linux version, Moho and Lost Marble should gain some new ground. From the release notes for the Linux version: Although there are several details left to be finished, most everything works and this version should be as usable as Moho on other platforms. It is still considered a beta, so please check back regularly for updates.
