New Flash Player available

Macromedia has just released a new version of the Flash Player. This is a bugfix release, but also includes a lot of new features.

This marks a new trend with Macromedia, that earlier have focused on making existing functions more stable, instead of releasing new functionality after a major release. (The last time this was done was the printing functionality introduced in Flash Player 4.)

The bugs fixed include fix for GET and POST when loading variables, Netscape scripting, memory optimizations of text fields and more.

The new features are masking of device fonts, reading ID3 tag from MP3s (songname, artist, album,year,comment,track, genre), optimizations for P4 processors (speedier antialiasing, video, text and color rendering)
