Now we know what Singularity is…

Now we know what Singularity is…

Aral Balkan have been teasing the community for a long time now. Banners proclaming "I am Singularity" and "What is Singularity?" have been popping up on several Flash blogs, but Aral kept his mouth shut until today.

Last week, the ones with badges on their blogs got to know what Singularity was about. This morning, Aral literally pulled the curtain revealing that Singularity is a conference. It's a new conference in a new setting - the web. If you attended any of the two online OSFlash conferences, you know how Aral intends to solve this.

The conference will be a live event, but the speakers will be sitting in the comfort of their living rooms (or office) thanks to Adobe's Connect Breeze technology. You'll enter conference rooms much like on an ordinary conference, but here you'll use your Browser and Flash to view the sessions with streaming (webcam) video and audio.

The list of speakers is already impressive and there will be three simultaneous tracks. Topics are not limited to Flash. Design, web development, usability, accessibility, Javascript, XML are some of the topics, but the full program isn't ready yet. At normal conferences, you'll seldom get to see it all since it's too much happening at once. During Singularity08, all the sessions will be recorded and they'll be available to attendees to view whenever they have the time. We think this is an absolutely brilliant way to host a conference and this is also a totally green conference in the way that neither speakers or attendees will need to travel to get there.
