SWF Studio 3.1 update available

Northcode has just released an update to their popular Projector tool SWF Studio. Flash 8 support and Synchronus Commands are the two major new features.

As far as we know, Northcode is the first Projector Tool company to offer Flash 8 support. Due to their special lisencing deal with Macromedia, you can now use all the new stuff from Flash 8 in your projectors as well. In our big Projector Tool Roundup, only one tool had synchronus commands. This way of working saves you from writing callback functions or even worse: onEnterFrame loops to wait for data.

With SWF Studio 3.1 you can mix both synchronus and asynchronus commands as you want. "When a SWF Studio command is called synchronously, data is returned to the caller immediately through a return object and is available for use immediately in the next line of code. No callbacks are required.". The penalty for the synchronus commands is that the Flash Player freezes up while waiting for the result. For most commands this is unnoticeable, but some operations as FTP are asynchronus in nature. Then it's great to be able to choose. Other news are easy to create Splash Screens and improved help.

If you want to buy SWF Studio, use this link to receive a 10% rebate and give a small kickback to Flashmagazine.
