ToonBoom Storyboard

ToonBoom are busy these days. An update to their Flash animation tool ToonBoom Studio is just around the corner and they also have a brand new storyboarding tool that should work for all kinds of production work.

As in ToonBoom Studio (TBS), ToonBoom Storyboard has a layer based "stage" and offers a complete set of drawing tools, including pressure-sensitive brush tool when using a digital graphic tablet and pen. If you're a Storyboard Artist this is the tool for you, but Directors, Producers or Flash Animators will also benefit from using it. Start by importing your script, draw the scenes, add captions, set duration and transitions and add voice annotations. The final result can be exported to print, PDF, SWF, QuickTime or other ToonBoom tools. ToonBoom Storyboard has a thumbnail view and Camera features as in TBS that will make it easy to pan and zoom on your drawings. ToonBoom Storyboard will set you back USD $899.99.

Toon Boom Studio 3.5 is also just around the corner with support for Flash 8 features such as drop shadows, more user friendly UI, timeline imporvements and improved tools such as Select Scene Operator, Contour Editor, Color Transform, better color palette management as well as Texture and Gradient Mapping to facilitate the animation process. Upon customer release, the V3.5 upgrade will cost $ 99.99 USD for V3 and V2.5 customers. The V3.5 customer release is scheduled for September 2006. As of August 1st, 2006, all purchases will receive a Toon Boom Studio V3 license key and a V3.5 license key upon customer release.
