Updated Flash Player 10 Beta on Labs

Updated Flash Player 10 Beta on Labs

Adobe just uploaded an updated version of Flash Player 10 Beta on their Labs site. The new version contains several fixes as well as a new command - the unloadAndStop is a brilliant addition to the API!

Several community members have commented on how hard it can be to unload content properly in Actionscript 3 and the new Virtual Machine. The addition of the unloadAndStop command makes it really easy to remove loaded content fully as Grant Skinner explains. The new version also removes some of the input limitations for fullscreen mode, so now you'll be able to use keyboard shortcuts in fullscreen games, video players and panorama viewers. There is also the mention of "Enhanced Sound APIs", but no details about this is released yet.

Not important to the average user, but really important to Linux users: the Linux Flash Player finally gets it's WMODE issues resolved. Formerly, overlayed ads would cover the page and Flash content wouldn't stack properly with DHTML content - to great annoyance of the users. This version finally brings the Linux version fully up to par with the Mac and Windows versions. Both the FireFox and Opera teams have contributed to make this possible so thanks a lot for that! The dialogues in the player are now also localized to Czech, German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Turkish, and Chinese.
