Flash conferences come and go, but some manage to put on a good event every year. This year is the tenth anniversary for the German FlashForum Konferenz and as in the two former years it was fully sold out. The 500 attendees are treated to a fine mix of local and international talent covering the large Flash Platform and also the first deeper looks into the new CS5 software.

It's been years since we attended FlashInTheCan Toronto, but as FITC is now all over the globe, this year we were able to go the Amsterdam event. With four parallel tracks, this is the largest FITC Amsterdam ever and the first time Europeans get to see Flash Player 10.1 running on a series of devices.

YouTube is testing video delivery using the HTML5 draft and the Open Standards crowd says Flash will die. The iPad will not support Flash and tech journalists make bold headlines and proclaim the death of Flash. A Javascript experiment plays back Flash files and bloggers proclaim Javascript is the new Flash. Apparently the Flash platform is under attack these days but what else is new?

Adobe's acquisition of Omniture puzzled many in the Flash community. Omniture CEO Josh James appearance at the Adobe MAX conference made several community members question if this deal was right for Adobe. Why would Adobe enter the business of tracking and analytics? FlashDen is a community site that's been around for years and they recently did a major redesign. Just after the redesign, the change became much more extensive as they were asked to change their name as well. Out of the blue, Adobe's legal department figured that they could not use the word Flash in their name so FlashDen is now ActiveDen.
