Flash on The Beach in Brighton is the event that the community will talk about for the next year and maybe years to come. Here are our ten reports from this brilliant event
This
week, the stormy beach of Brighton is filled with Flash designers and
developers for a three day conference featuring three parallel tracks
and a great lineup of speakers. Flashmagazine is there to tell you what
is happening.
My next session was with Craig Swan of Crash!Media talking about The User as the Interface. I got in a little late as I had to go out in the foyer to post the keynote, but this was really inspirational!
Todays
second session was an old favorite, Branden Hall. Branden was
everybody's Actionscript guru back in the Flash 4 and 5 days. He did
some amazing things back then that really inspired me to quit using
Director and rather use Flash and ...
Another
old time favorite from former Flash conferences is Natzke. Before his
presentation he showed off an awesome black and white video of
generated graphics set to sound, exported from Director as a quicktime
movie to improve playback.
Formerly,
movies contained no warnings about what you were about to see. Todays
movies have these long warnings and you are no longer taking any
chances. Taking chances and experimenting more is what Brendan talked
about at todays first ses ...
Microsoft's
presence in Brighton is pretty impressive. They are far more visible
than Adobe and they are here to show off the designer tools announced
yesterday and grab developers from the pool of Flash developers and
designers present.
Design Patterns are architectural solutions to common programming problems. They are principally used in the development of applications but can also be helpful as a kind of programming shorthand when discussing problems with other programm ...
Despite the controversial title this highly enjoyable talk was a balanced and refreshing review of the current crop of web application technologies. Enlivened by quotes from Henry Ford and Darth Vader we learned that AJAX and Flash develope ...
There
was a few sore heads on day 3 as it was the morning after the big
party, but most of the attendees made it back for another great series
of sessions.
All
good things must come to an end and unfortunately, so does this years
best Flash conference. Flash on The Beach in Brighton is the event that
the community will talk about for the next year and maybe years to
come.
Jens has been working with Flash since version 3 came out. Since then, he's been an active member of the Flash community. He's created more than a hundred Flash games (thus the name of his blog) but he also creates web/standalone applications, does workshops and other consulting. He loves playing with new technology and he is convinced that the moment you stop learning you die (creatively speaking). Jens is also the Editor of this website.
