The Asia region gets a new community based conference, The Actionscript Conference in Singapore. Organized by the Singapore Flex Usergroup, the single track conference takes place this Sunday and it offers an impressive, international lineup.
Peter Elst (Belgium), Lee Brimelow (USA), Michael Plank (Germany), Stefan Wessels (South Africa), Marco Casario (Italy), Aleksandar Gvozden (Serbia), Prayank Swaroop (India) and Grant Straker (New Zealand). How's that for a UG conference lineup? This really raises the bar for other User Groups! Tickets are $80 SGD ($95 SDG onsite) and the event will be held at the National Library in Singapore.
The sponsors are equally impressive so other UGs should take note of how the Singapore UG pulls this off. Attracting sponsors is probably the best way to afford international speakers and a rough estimate tells us that the conference will pull in more than $15.000 SDG (appr. USD10k). With a low-key venue, great sessions, pre-conference workshops and parties, this could become a really great event. Expect Peter Elst to do a writeup for ActionscriptHero.org soon. The day before the workshop, the Singapore Flex UG will organize a meetup, so if you get there early, that'll be a good way to meet the locals as well.
