Flash Player 7 for Linux Available
As usual, the Linux users have to wait a while before they get the latest player. Now the wait is over.
Macromedia have been working with Sun to to port the Flash Player code to the Linux OS. Just a couple months ago, Macromedia had a job opening for working on the player, so we assume that position is filled? Now, Linux users may again experience the same content as PC and Mac users. The Flash Player 5 for Linux arrived a long time after Flash 5 itself was launched. The Flash Player 6 for Linux arrived about 9 months after the new player for Mac and PC. The new version 7 for Linux, is about the same, so we guess it's "on schedule".The Flash Player 7 has now reached almost 60 % distribution at all continents, except in the US that linger at 52 % (NDP stats March 2004). The addition of the Linux player won't make a big difference to these numbers, but it does ensure the market about Macromedias commitment to other platforms.
