This weeks Flash Player 10 launch brought an unpleasant surprise to the developers and companies that have invested in the new sound capabilities. Without notification or extensive testing, Adobe changed the Sound API between the Release Candidate and the Final version.

While Adobe is working on their Pacifica IP phone solution for Flash, Indian company TringMe already has a solution for integrated phone and voice services in your Flash applications. Based around the VoiceXML standard, this beta service could be a nice way to add some new tricks to your apps.

We all know that Flash is installed on about 98% of all browsers, but how many web pages use Flash? Surveying more than 3.5 million pages, the Opera (browser) developer center found that somewhere between 30% and 40% of all pages tested contained Flash files. The survey also features fun statistics such as AJAX usage, the least popular HTML and CSS tags and the number of pages that validate.
