Doing a lot of prototype work with databases? Flash DB Extensions for ASP and PHP is a commercial Flash CS3 panel that can ease the development and decrease time spent setting up tedious scripts for database connection, select, update, insert and deletes. Not only does it write the serverside code and save it to disk, but it'll also create the required AS2/AS3 code and insert it straight into the Actions panel.

Two months ago, we wrote about a Flash Player exploit that could potentially cause havoc. Today it was known that the Norwegian MSN site served out malware ads to thousands of users, hidden as part of of a Honda commercial. Checking the ad content is obviously the responsibility of the ad network and it scares us that they don't understand the need for this.

Beau Ambur had picked up the conference from Lynda Weinman and this year was her first not organizing the conference but rather as a speaker and part of the prestigious FlashForward Film Festival jury. Make sure you browse this years winners if you want to see some cutting edge Flash work.

This update was released a couple days ago, but we have not seen it mentioned. The Flex SDK and Flex Builder was just updated to support AIR 1.1, Flash Player 10 as well as numerous bug fixes. This update is probably worth downloading and installing for all Flex users.

Yesterday, a small bomb exploded among the Flash programming community - the proposed ECMAScript 4 standard will not become the next generation of Javascript. Instead, the working group have opted for a much less ambitious expansion of the existing ECMA3. To Flash developers, this means that Actionscript 3 is now based on a standard that's up in the air.

This is just so sweet. About 2 years ago, we saw a C64 emulator. Today it's a full MAME arcade emulator done in Flash. Now you can play those classic games directly in your browser thanks to the power of Flash plugin. The selection of games are a little limited for now and sound is missing but the emulator plays really well for a first version!
