It's been a while since there was a fun and informal Actionscript contest as those that existed have kind of died out. Here's one with a twist! Adobe evangelist Mike Chambers worked on a piece of code this weekend and wondered how others would go about solving the same problem. Why not make a competition out of it?
The task is simple - create your implementation of a ProximityManager class that figures out neighbouring sprites to the one you're testing. If this sounds like something you could do easily, you could win: "Copy of Flex Builder 3, choice of a T-shirt from threadless, lots of random swag, and the admiration and adulation of your ActionScript developer peers." Not shabby? Get started now as the competition deadline is just two days off!
Update: the results are now posted.
