Want to investigate AIR using Javascript? Mike Chambers just published the link to download this book for free as a PDF from Ajaxian.com.
One of the most powerful features of AIR is that you can use either Flash/Flex or Javascript/DHTML to develop your applications. No matter what development technique you chose, you can use the full API. Not only that, you can have Javascript call Flash and the other way around. The book is written by Mike Chambers, Daniel Dura, Dragos Georgita and Kevin Hoyt and it's the updated and final version of this book, published several months ago. The Adobe Devcenter also has some good resources to get you started.
