Today Macromedia announced the long anticipated Director MX. The main new features are better Flash support, updated UI, 3D inspactor, accessibility, new debugger, QT6 support and OS X support.
Browsing the top 10 list of new features makes you wonder if this really is such a big step forward as Flash MX if on both position 1 and 4 on this list. Has Director really reached it's limit? The director mailing lists have slowly decreased in popularity the last years and we are sure the users would have expected more new features from a MX release. Still, one shouldn't underestimate the possibilities that open up when Director users can tap into Flash MX features such as Flash Remoting and the Flash Communication Server. Director users can now access Flash MX methods and properties directly and there are still a lot of good Xtras out there that can do stuff that Flash users can only dream of.
