Flash Communication Server MX released

Macromedia today announced the launch of their new server technology Flash Communication Server MX

The new server has been hinted at from Macromedia for a long time, and has been speculated about since the Flash 6 player was released with settings for webcamera and microphone. And today Macromedia unravled the mystery and made available their communication server for Flash MX.

Flash Communication Server MX makes available video and audio streaming, as well as multiway video and audio and messaging, making it the center tool for making rich-media messaging systems and real-time collaboration systems.

The server is available for Windows now, but Macromedia promise that it will be made available for Linux and Sun later on. As has become usual for all their MX products, Macromedia has made available a resource center at Macromedia.com dedicated to the Flash Communcation Server MX.
