In just 17 days, the first Flash Games summit ever kicks off in San Francisco, California. With a wide array of industry panel discussions, Adobe's Ryan Stewart, The Mochis awards show, parties and more, this looks like a must-attend event for serious game developers.
Being a summit, the event is different from conferences in that there's few standard sessions with a guy standing in front of a crowd, but more panels and discussions. Apart from the Flash Platform, topics cover producing, marketing, monetization and more.
There's even an awards show where you can vote for the People's Choice award and categories covering commercial / indie games, Game art, Game creativity, Strategy, Puzzle, Multiplayer, Family as well as a Nonoba sponsored award. The nominations are now closed, but this is a great list to drop by (if you have some time to waste) as there lot's of fun to be had just by clicking through the list of games.
If you're into Flash games in any way, this event should prove great for both content and networking. With sponsors like Kongregate, Nonoba, Armor Games and many others, you could probably even sell/finance your indie games at the event. Flash Gaming Summit is one day only, March 22nd at The Solarium in San Francisco, just blocks away from the Moscone Conference Center where events like Adobe MAX and FlashForward have been before. The official Flash Gaming Summit After Party, aptly named "License to Play" will be in that area as well. Early bird tickets are now gone, but standard tickets can be bought for $99.
