Flash Lite 2.1 for Windows Mobile 5.0 out on Labs

Do you develop for Windows Mobile devices? A new version of Flash Lite for these devices are now up on Adobe Labs for you to download and test.

Many expected new software on Adobe's Labs site following yesterdays keynote at the FlashForward Conference in Austin, Texas. Maybe someone was disappointed, but the only new software was a preview of the upcoming version of Flash Lite 2.1 for Windows Mobile. Our guess is that Adobe saves the best for the MAX conference in Las Vegas next month.

Flash Lite 2.1 supports most of the Flash Player 7 methods, synchronized sound, text enhancements and AS2 syntax. Flash Lite 2.1 also supports the ability to locally store and retrieve relevant, application-specific information such as preferences, high scores, usernames, etc. These Shared Objects can make your application work even without a connection so that you're in on the hype of Occasionally Connected Applications. Flash Lite 2.1 will not only let you play back existing content, but also extend it using special FSCommands such as GetBatteryLevel, GetNetworkConnectStatus, GetNetworkGeneration, GetNetworkName, GetSignalLevel, starting and stopping the phones built in vibration and much more.
