Flash Player 7 Public Beta!

It's true! Macromedia have just released the first public Beta of the Flash 7 Player. This can only mean that Flash 7 (or MX2) will be near. How near? We won't know for some time yet...

The player is a pre-release version, of the final release, so from that we can guess that Macromedia must have finished the second closed beta on the program itself. If Macromedia is to follow their usual scheme, the next phase is a wider beta testing and then a release of the program withing 2-4 months (maybe less, maybe more).

The new player has a Notification and Update feature that will make sure you always have the latest version of the player, a much welcome feature that will surely put a massive load on Macromedias servers. Improved script performance and video looks are other features listed by Macromedia, but the Player is probably loaded with new features that will be announced later.

Keep in mind that this is Beta software, so do not install it for other purposes than testing. Test your Flash files and send your findings to Macromedia...
