Macromedia Search Engine SDK

One thing that's really bad about Flash, is that the content is never found by search engines. Macromedia want to help this.

Most search engines do not search through your Flash file at all. Atomz has the ability to search through SWFs and that's probably the reason that Macromedia are using that on their site. Google has in fact been crawling SWFs for at least 8 months, but are only indexing the URL's.

The Search Engine SDK is a set of tools and programs written by Macromedia to make parsing SWFs easier in the future. When you can search within SWFs? Don't expect any results soon. Search engines are complex and finely tuned. The extra load of parsing compressed SWFs might be too big a job for many of these, but our guess is that all the major engines will incorporate SWF search over time.
