Microsoft Sparkle unveiled

Microsoft has lifted the lid on their much talked about 'Sparkle' project. The Expression suite, of which Sparkle is only a part, was announced at the Microsoft Professional Developer's Conference in Los Angeles.

Although much touted as a 'FlashKiller', the Sparkle application is in actual fact a tool for developing user interfaces for Windows applications. Interestingly the other tools in the suite let you design graphics and build websites.

If you really want to learn about Sparkle, you should drop by MSDN's Channel 9 website and check out Robert Scoble's interview with oldschool Flash Hero Manuel Clemens - now lead designer on Sparkle. Despite being a hefty 1Gb download it's really worth it if you want to know what Sparkle really is. Forget about Flash-killer. If Sparkle will kill anything it's Flex, at least for the coming 3 years. (Pay attention at the beginning a glimpse of Sam Wan)
