Opera adds Flash

Opera Software has licensed Macromedia Flash Player technology in the Windows, Linux and Macintosh versions of their popular Web browser.

"Streaming media and advanced Web design is the future of the Web" says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software, "By distributing Macromedia Flash Player, Opera, ensures that the product that has democratized Web design is brought to as many Internet users as possible."

Opera will make Flash available in its "Next Generation" web browser. The licensing of Flash for Opera could open up for Flash on even more devices. Opera allready supports 6 different OSs, and can be found in devices ranging for Epoc PDAs to Webpads and regular PCs.

The norwegian company Opera Software produces the lightening fast Opera browser, one of the absolute lightest browsers available today with just a 2 MB download. Available for free in a number of different language versions.
