Red5 update

Red5 update

The Open Source media server Red5 keeps getting better. It was just updated to version 0.7 and now sports origin/edge clustering support and a new Flex-based admin tool.

When Red5 first appeared, it was really impressive as an Open Source project. It was however limited in scope and installing it was hard. As with most Open Source software, there was also no guarantee that the project would continue to move forward. Red5 is now beyond that stage and it keeps developing at a nice pace. Some of the founding members of the team started a commercial company called Infrared5 some time ago that are attracting talented developers. They also started red5server.com, a commercial hosting of Red5 for those that do not wish to fiddle on the command line themselves.
