SWF Studio 3.5

SWF Studio 3.5

Northcode silently released a new version of their popular Projector Tool last week. SWF Studio now fully supports AS3 and working with either Flash CS3 or Flex.

In addition to AS3 support, there's a long list of other new and modified functionality. Our favorites are maybe the new security features as well as the debugging capabilities.

According to the Northcode website, "SWF Studio now enables you to include the debug version of the Flash player in your EXE files. Using the Flash CS3 or Flex Builder 2 debugger with the debug player, you can connect to your application and see runtime errors as they occur. You can even use the Flash CS3 remote debugger to place breakpoints and step through your code while you watch values being updated in the debugger. This interactive debugging capability allows you quickly resolve issues that previously would have required hours of tedious debugging."

That's really sweet and solves one of our major annoyances with third party projector tools. Reading and writing binary files are also pretty sweet. There's been no major changed to how you use the API in this version, so if you've used V3, you already have the required skills.
