The Fuse Kit

Do you do animation using ActionScript? Then you need what is most commonly referred to as just Fuse. Fuse is simply the best option for scripted animation.

There are many tweening engines for Flash, but none has the features of Fuse. Fuse is a set of classes that you install just by downloading and opening a MXP file. These classes contains all the movieclip tweening methods you need, but Fuse let's you tween more than just the X and Y position. Using Fuse, you can tween colors using properties such as brightness, brightOffset, invertColor, tint and tintPercent. You can tween filters, alphas, bitmaps - just about any property and then make a chain of events (sequence) that plays back your tweens over time.

Fuse is created by Moses Gunesch and it is the official update to the ' classes (ZigoEngine) made by Ladislav 'Laco' Zigo. These in turn were based on Robert Penners easing equations so this is indeed a community project and a good example of how well written actionscript is extendable. Fuse also uses elements of FMP by Dalilo Sandner and Björn Wibben for handling filters.

Fuse 1.1 is the current version, but 2.0 is available to beta users. If you want to get started using it, register at the Fuse Forums and download the beta from there. The documentation is sparse at the moment, so the simplest way to get started with Fuse is checking out Lee Brimelow's new video tutorial at GotoAndLearn.com. You can find some more tutorials in the Fuse Forums as well.
